There are several ways - most hosting companies assign static IPs, tho'. Basically there are three ways to distinguish virtual servers: IP Address, Host Name, and Port Number - change any of them and you've got another "site". But if you only have one virtual server (as you do in pretty any hosting account) then there's really no way to separate them.
