I had the same impression that Ray did.
The other hole I want to shoot through Gel's interpretation of everything
is that Neo was never made it to the source. I re-watched the end of
reloaded this morning. He made it to the room where he spoke to the
architect. At that point he had two options. One was to go to the source
and restart the matrix. The other was to save Trinity. Obviously he saved
Trinity.
