It's been a very long time, but I really liked Glastonbury and Bath. In London I would see Kew Gardens, Speaker's Corner, Richmond Park maybe and maybe one of the outlying castles (Hampstead?). Consider taking in a play. I saw Olivier when I was there but I imagine this was a bit tough to arrange. No info as the tickets were gotten for me... I really enjoyed just walking around in London. There are a lot of little squares and peaceful neighborhoods. On the other hand I would imagine that hotels are expensive, again, no info.

In Scotland I remember being pretty impressed by Lock Urqhart (or whatever tbe spelling is) Loch Ness and Loch Lomond. (By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes...) Edinburgh Castle is pretty spectacular if you get that far north. Glencoe if you are interested in the history. Then there is Robert Burns country around Ayr, but I have honestly no idea how important this would be to most people... I had it several times, due to my father's family there.

I have also heard that Wales is spectacular, though I have never been there. I have never visited the Lake District per se, but I can tell you that the highway that goes through there into Scotland goes past some gorgeous desolate hills.

Honestly, if I were going, I would spend maybe four days in London and then rent a car and .... personally I would see Wales then go through the Lake District, bypass Ayr and head into northern Scotland.

If you are doing Ireland too.... I'd allow at least a week for that. My parents did some deal where you rent a horse-drawn carriage and stay in village inns at night and really enjoyed it. If you are interested in that I can ask them for the name of the company.
