don't but do what works for your body. You'll find out in about 2 weeks or
so.
Whatever you do you need to exercise. Exercise, Exercise, Exercise. I never
have tried Atkins but I sure would not like to limit what I can eat if I
could simply change how I ate.
As you loose weight your body shape will change in all kinds of ways.
Without exercise you could wind up with stretch marks and excess skin if you
plan on loosing more than say 70lbs. Also be sure you exercise for at least
30 minutes at a time. All this 6 minute ab crap you see on TV is advertised
by people that probably spend 2-3 hours a day in a gym.
Find an exercise that works for you. Personally I run. Also, you need to
only eat 3 times a day with a small snack. Train yourself to not hold off
and eat 1 big meal a day. I tried that! Not good for the body. You may also
want to get a multi-vitamin as well to ensure you get all the nutrients you
may be missing because of the diet. One thing you can do at first is to get
a plate of food and only eat of it leaving some behind. It just helps
train your mind to not eat everything you see.
Snacks Kill! Avoid the urge....oh how I miss Oreo cookie binges. I usually
do the 94% fat free popcorn and eat bag as a late snack. If it comes in a
bag (pre-processed) then skip it if you can.
Everything you need to survive properly basically grows in the ground. We
were not born with the ability to cook in fat and make butter and milk
(though by now it may be in our genetic code). Fruits, veggies, beans,
potatoes are all required for a healthy body. Veggies are most important of
all. Go figure how every few years they find that this veggie or that
reduces chances of all kinds of crud. Basically if it is dropped in a vat of
oil or grease avoid it. If you are going for oils then go with light oils...
Get a routine and stick to it. It's easy to loose a few pounds but unless
you change your habits you'll gain it back.

I disagree about it being unhealthy. Done correctly over time, it can
be a
very healthy way of eating.
Typical daily diet (remember i've been on it for about 3 years now).
Morning
Cup of Tea and Vitamins
Fruit Shake or Eggs and Bacon or Low Carb hot Cereal. (sometimes low
carb pancakes, but rarely)
Lunch
Low Carb Pasta and Tuna or Chef Salad or Tuna Salad
Snacks
Low carb crackers and cheese
Nuts
Low Carb Bar
Dinner
Meat/Fish/Chicken
Vegetable
Salad
Dessert
Sugar Free Jello or Low Carb Cheesecake or Low Carb Ice Cream.
I tend to drink 1 to 11/2 liters of water a day. I have some grains,
but
they are mostly soy and flax.

My cardiac rehab program said there's no need to do something this
drastic
or possibly harmful. Told me to cut down on simple carbs ("white" flour,
potatos, etc.), substitute whole grains. Have been getting neat stuff
from
Trader Joe's like whole grain breads and pita, blueberry bran muffins,
whole
wheat pasta, Optimum cereal with whole wheat, soy, and flax, etc.
Feel good, losing weight (with moderate exercise), keeps the lower tummy
working properly, good for cholesterol. Have discovered sweet potatoes -
yummy baked sweet potatoe "fries".
