Personally, I don't think I want to eat many of the entrees that would
appear on a typical Neanderthal smorgasbord.  Raw mammoth, anyone?

That's the problem with Atkins and Nutritionists - if it does work and
is safe, it means that they have been "talking out of their posteriors"
for years. Given that, they are hardly likely to endorse it, especially
if they have links financially to the conventional slimming industry.

Atkins seems to be getting back to a sort of hunter/gatherer type of
diet that we probably evolved with, they would have eaten plenty of meat
with some roots and leafy veg, occasional berries and fruits in season
but probably little carbs as they had access to no potatoes and very
  little grain.

(sits back and waits to be proved wrong...)

How you going to research it?

Lot of the Nutritionists say it's bad for you.  Some say it's the best
  diet
you can be on to lose weight. Some are saying you should signup with
  them
and do there diet that is some Hybrid of the Atkins.

Everyone is doing it and its seems to be working. There are only a few
  cases
of bad side affects and nobody has been on it long enough to see what
  the
  long term affects may be.

My wife is nursing now and as soon as she is done we are going on the
  Atkins
diet. The hardest part for me will be the Breads and Dinner and Coffee
  coffee coffee.

Careful. My mom had a "cardiac event" which we think was due to her
  starting
an Atkin's like diet. It's also very hard on your kidneys (too much
protein). Best to do some research to see how it might affect you.
