just get a chiltons manual.  There is another brand, go to napa or autozone or whatever and ask the person there.  Look at them both and see if it has what you need.  The books are by year runs, like honda accord 1979-1982 or what ever.

They usually have trouble shooting walk throughs, like if your car is running hot, feel the outlet pipe from the radiator, if its cold, your thermostat is broke, otherwise next step, etc.

Electrical problems are money eaters as the labor will kill you while the mechanic trouble shoots.  You might wnat to just spend a little time yourself tinkering with it and just replace the whole unit, if you can get to it.

FOr the dent, I would REALLY recommend you get a pro to do it.  I have seen people that work for the used car lots that come and do it on a by car or contract basis.  Ask around the smaller places as the larger ones probably have their own body shop.

THey have these little bits that are about pen shaped/sized and they tap tap tap a little at a time.  If the paint is g2g you shouldn't have to worry about it.  If it is in more than say an inch from where it should be, the paint may crack as you pop it out.  They can tell you if it will happen.

Good luck.  :)

Subject: car question

Anyone know of a good online resource for automotive do-it-yourself?

I'd like to see if I can troubleshoot what is wrong with my windshield
wipers. Don't need them often in NM but not having them is annoying from
time to time. They don't work at all, and I suppose it could be anything
from the wiper motor to a fuse to a short, and I'd like some help
figuring it out.

I have found a couple of q and a forums, but these mainly tell me that
other people have had similar probs and I don't know how knowledgeable
the answers are -- I was thinking more along the lines of an online
repair manual?

Also, it looks as though some SUV backed into me when I was parked
somewhere and I'd like to see if the dent could be hammered out from the
inside. It's on the rear quarterpanel between the window and the hatch.
Relatively minor dent and no paint missing, but I don't see what I need
to do to get to the inside of that particular bit of metal.

This is a Jeep Cherokee I am talking about btw. Appreciate anything
authoritative you Google gods can point me at.

Thanks
Dana
