Hi, >> OK here goes: baseHRef...
Is doing all that easier, more efficient, or maintainable than <cfset XFA_Home="myApp.Home />? It is a valid alternative, among many, but I cannot agree that it is a better one. It most certainly isn't quicker. >> Is FB *that* much better that I'm willing to >> take the good with what I perceive to be the bad. Of course not; the framework is a tool not a ball and chain. If you perceive a problem, solve it within the framework, as FuseQ did, or use an alternative solution. >> the bar seems awfully steep to solve some >> basic issues whose solutions in turn are >> themselves simple enough Can you provide some concrete example of "basic problems" you have experienced while using Fusebox? I have not encountered anything major, but that is not to say they do not exist. I mean this in all honesty, I like knowing what challenges may lie ahead. >> its just flat out overblown in toto What portions do you find overblown? The switch seems simple enough and is very flexible, circuits are merely aliases to directory paths, and the rest is just breaking apart logic from display. I do not consider myself a guru, but I now comfortable with the simplicity of Fusebox. >> the question is whether FB is worth the trouble to implement It really isn't much trouble at all. Granted it takes time to get used to; it is not something you (or me at any rate) "get" just by glancing at it. I made the mistake many moons ago--I took a quick look and thought; "wow, that seems like an awful lot of work". In reality, I can fly through a switch and start coding fuses before others can get their minds around their first task. I think breaking things down into smaller pieces helps with this; I am focused on the fuse, not the application and it all just seems to come together. >> the learning curve is at least half the problem, I think I totally agree and I think, at least in part, it is the whole "Fusebox" analogy. People tend to get confused about fuseactions, fuses, circuits, and the like. It took me forever to realize that the circuit names could be anything I wanted; hell I been using "." lately lol. As in: <cfset fusebox.circuits.myApp = "."> <cfset fusebox.circuits.myAppAdmin = "./admin"> <cfset fusebox.circuits.myAppGallery = "./gallery"> While I do not try to "convert" people to Fusebox, I do enjoy discussing it because it opens up new thoughts. I wish you luck with Fusebox 4!
