I own several patents in another industry. (These patents have no relation to the computer world)
Several years ago a large distributor/importer blatantly knocked off my invention. This distibutor was not licensed to use my invention, and I was never required to provide this distributor nor anyone else a license to use my invention. When I met with this distributor, all they said was "sue me". They had deep pockets and I did not. One other occasion we attempted to force another company to cease and desist use of my invention, and they just continued to stall in the courts and kept changing their design until it was different enough from my invention that they could argue it was not my invention. I could not even sue for lost sales! The bottom line, a patent is only as strong as your ability to enforce it, and for me it was nothing more than a marketing tool, a way to lure investors, and to make lawyers rich. >> Yes there are. It is one of the conditions you are granted a patent: >> you must provide access to you "invention" >> at a reasonable price, otherwise you may loose it. >> >I don't believe that is true. Further, a reasonable price is a quite a >debatable thing. > >Matt Liotta >President & CEO >Montara Software, Inc. >http://www.MontaraSoftware.com >(888) 408-0900 x901 > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm?link=t:4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm?link=s:4 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.4 Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm
