Very true, I think Adobe has to some degree tried. But failed because you can't get it on its own.
In other words, right now they are banking on everyone upgrading to Flash Builder 4, or purchasing Flash Builder 4 and you get it for free. That maybe their way of saying we haven't really decide what it is worth on its own. If I was inclined to do Flash and ColdFusion development I might be inclined to personally buy it for $299.00, as that would be a bargain. I just can't justify that as the budget will not allow me to. I just wish that CFEclipse would hurry up with the CF9 script syntax colouring then I will be back over to it, for all the features I miss. The next few weeks are going to be interesting for CFB and its price, that is for sure. -----Original Message----- From: Rick Faircloth [mailto:r...@whitestonemedia.com] Sent: Sunday, 28 March 2010 11:36 AM To: cf-talk Subject: RE: ColdFusion Builder Released! > It seems that more people would buy it if it was $99.00, and surely with > 800k developers out there they would actually have made more money of that > price point than they ever will of the current price point. I think that's true. I guess anyone who creates a product has to start the pricing somewhere. I've read that a business or anyone charging for a product or service should, if they're not sure what the market will accept, initially price the product or service on the high side because it's always acceptable to customers to lower a price, but it's almost impossible to raise one. Maybe that's what Adobe's doing. If sales don't work out at $299, then we may see a $199 price in a year or so.
