If you mean the original files have page numbers before merging, AFAIK it is
not possible to "adjust" those. The pages are like an image. If you want to
remove a certain area, you have to cover/fill it with something else. ie Cover
the existing footer area with a new footer. Assuming you know the coordinates
that is ..
