I have an exe file created by Dyalog that runs as is. With many programs/applications you get a hell of a lot of DLLs etc and nobody seems to mind as long as you have an exe file to start the thing.
Over the years a lot of APL implementors have said there is nothing to it to create an exe file is that waht you want and I have said YES! and then nothing has happened until Dyalog APL did and it makes a huge difference. If it is such a small thing to do I can not understand why it is not done. I think it basically proves what many people claim and that is that what is missing in most APLs is marketing and listening to the potential customers. Most people do not care about complexities and actually shy away from them. Most programming languages and programmers spend most efforts on very simple things and most of us in the APL community (including J of course) still think the simple things are for simple minds and do not bother. The discussions of tacit programs and long lines of difficult operations scare most would be programmers away.
