Michael: I know the agent well and he knew that I
would drive the car more than usual, but not as a daily driver. He probably just
automatically set it up that way. I checked the policy and there are no mileage
limitations. It does say that I must have another car as a normal daily
driver registered and insured in order to qualify for antique/classic
insurance.

------------------------------------------------------------ hmmmmm.
This must be per-policy, as I stated 2000 miles per year with Hagerty.
They did give me the option to specify 3000 though....

Haggerty has no mileage limitations, but the
policy does say it is for pleasure use only. If it is a daily driver, you
pretty much have to stick to the large insurance companies.

Apprasial and insurance At 09:09 AM 12/11/2001, you wrote:
I
went to my insurance company last week to insure my 1971 Chevelle for
it's real value. The car has been completely restored inside and out. My
insurance company is State Farm. I have been with State Farm for 15
years. My house is also insured with them. They told me that they could
not put a declared value on a 1971 car. I would only get the blue book
value for the car. They did take pictures of the car. They did say that
I could and recommended that I get a private appraisal on the car. She
gave me the name of a man who works for a company which appraises car.
The insurance company will honor the appraisal value stated by this
company. I called the man and he stated that it cost 125.00 dollar for
the appraisal. They record all the numbers from the block, head,
transmission, rear end etc. They go completely throughout the inside and
out and spend about 1 1/2 hour looking at the car. He stated that three
certificate will be issued on the appraisal. What do you think about
this process or should I look at another way to insure my
car.?
You're going to have to either drive it only 2500 miles a year or
forget about stated value, appraisal or not...not many insurance companies
will carry that kind of coverage for anything not in the current blue
book. We all know how bad the BB is for value. I ran across the same thing
for my '78. Specialty insurance companies will write the limited mileage
car policies, but not for drivers.
