You did good Herb...given your power at the rear wheels, I'd have done the exact same thing....the 9" is the stronger setup.
As far as the Ford thing goes (yeah I spelled it right....GASP), I got no problem using parts from them if the setup benefits from it...heck I've even owned a couple of 'em ('66 Mercury Park Lane 428, '67 Mustang Fastback 289)...still wouldn't mind having a Shelby if the Lotto hits (and no not Eleanor....I prefer the GT350H)....
