Thanks for a real  FOOL proof method. Dale ... Not being a Lawyer. I think I would include a disclaimer in this technique. Here's another method you can use and takes two people.  Get a large wire tie and snug it around the driveshaft with what's left pointing down (6:00 position) as a reference, i.e., don't snip off the end.  Make a chalk mark on the tire at its lowest point on the ground.  Carefully push or drive car one full tire revolution while 2nd person watches the wire tie on the driveshaft and counts the full revs.  When the tire has made one full turn, look at the wire tie.  How many full turns did it make and where it is now in relation to pointing straight down.  Did it make just over 3 turns - could be 3.07 or 3.08; 3 1/4 turns - 3.23, etc. That will get you close to the final ratio with whatever wheels/tires are on the car now.
