That is used for 64-68 to ID a real SS as they were a separate model in those years.

Actually, the 13837
model is for 65 Malibu SS and 68 SS396 hardtop. The 1966 and
1967 SS hardtop cars were 13817 - the only two years to use the "17"
designation for the hardtop.
