Almost, Grasshopper.  The SS option was also available in 1969 on the 13427 300 Deluxe 2-dr sedan and 13437 300 Deluxe 2-dr hardtop.  Haven't seen it happen yet, but it probably will someday - someone might try taking a 13835 trim tag (67 Concours wagon) or 13825/45 (68 Concours wagon) and put them on a Malibu thinking someone may only be looking at the 138 portion of the tag and hoping they don't check the VIN.  BTW, 1969 also had 13836/46 Concours Estate wagons and the 13857 Monte Carlo in the 70's.  I'm as guilty as the next guy stating that "138" defines a SS car not thinking of the wagon models or MCs.

After 1968, The VIN number for Chevelles changed to all of them being malibus.  The SS's and Malibus are both 136 in 1969 and above.

Hi all.

I have been MIA for a week; been a beach bum at Myrtle and loved every minute. Did you miss me? Yeah, me too!

I'm confused! Is my 69 SS, a 13637 car not a true SS? I have the window sticker with with the 6Z25AA option, for $347.60, that tells me that it was SS equipped.

????????????

Well, it finally worked, I hope it shows up properly for ya'll.

To my knowledge, this 5 digit code is the first 5 numbers of the VIN.  The service manual also lists the 1969 model numbers for '69 Chevrolet, '69 Nova, '69 Camaro, & '69 Corvette.  I highly recommend this manual for everyone.  I have used the heck out of it.

I hope this helps ya'll out.  Again, maybe I'm reading this wrong, if so, please correct me.  I'm trusting in the Chevrolet Manual for now, but I'm still open minded to any other inputs.

Scott, Sorry to say that according to Chevy's manual, you car is the same as mine, a Malibu 2 Door Sport Coupe.  Again, don't take this as the FINAL answer.  If the guys/gals in here have further info, I'm sure they can add to this.  As far as a theory to why it was sold as an SS, I'm stumped.
