Well, a couple of times I've been so late for work that I forgot to put the baby gate on the door, and went to work, leaving her free to roam the house. Everything was in perfect order when i got back 9 hours later. She NEVER goes to the bathroom in the house. She's the best dog in the world. I also have cats. The Chi gets along great with one cat, and so so with the other, so there might be some chasing around while I'm gone. But for the most part, she's great, and she never tries to get even with me by chewing things and doing nasty things. So, I don't really know why I'm confining her. except maybe to make ME feel better. She is a happy dog, confining her doesn't seem to make her sad or depressed. *I* am the one who gets sad and depressed when I confine her! Thanks for the replies.
