The vet told me if Goliath couldn't keep down the Amoxicillin he would give him
a shot; just call the office and/or bring him in. I think I will just forfeit
the Amoxicillin by mouth and go ahead and have him give a shot. Now I am not
sure EXACT NAME of the injection he was going to give him and I been so worried
about what a shot can do to the little guy since Chi appear to have reactions
to it. Can you or anybody tell me what to expect and basically what need to be
said/done when I take him back to the Vets?
Hope you all know just alittle how I appreciate your words of wisdom and
support. I am such a worry wart! Between my little guy being sick and my
youngest daughter flew into Great Lakes, Michigan around 5p.m. for Navy Boot
Camp. I just feel so helpless. I am glad I am a Christian because only prayer
and faith is going to get me through tough times.
Thanks Again,
Shirley from Ohio

Hi,
I would go with what everyone else is saying, plus, if the vet has you try
the amoxicillin again - I would only give it to him on a full stomach. Even if
you have to give him some canned food first to be sure his tummy is nice a
full. Amoxicillin on a not full tummy will make kids and adult people barf
too! Also, another thing you can try is boiled hamburger and rice. Boiling
the hamburger takes off the fat and makes it easier on their tummy. That was
always my mom's upset dog tummy recipie. Personally, I would probably ask for
the antibiotic injection at this point, with all of the vomiting with the by
mouth antibiotic so far.

Goliath started vomiting Sunday and I took him to the Vet. Goliath is 13 weeks
and weighs 2.40.
I took him to the Vets where he dx. him as having Tonsillitis and because of
his small weight he decided to put him on Amoxicillian instead of giving him a
shot. He also said he wanted to wait for a week for giving him his 3 mos. shot
for which I know is right.
Anyways, he is NOT keeping the Amoxiciallian down and doesn't appear to be
drinking very little water.
I just called the Vet on an emergency basis and he told me to hold the
Amoxillian for the night with letting him have only ice cube and water. In AM
give him another try on the Amoxicillian and if he can't keep the medication
down I should call the office and bring him in.
I probably made a mistake or made it worse as I had given him a very very
small amount of canned food so now he has to have his stomach completely empty
and I feel so badly now.
He is my 1st Chihuahua and I am just so worried about him.
Please, any advise would help.
