with older dogs it is very painful, and they tend to tear out the
stitches often if they arent kept bandage(which causes them to heal
slower) and this causes more trips to the vet to be restitched. if they
are getting caught up in blankets you will need to keep them really
short if you decide not to have the vet remove them
