Dewclaws tend to be the ones that get hung up in blankets and shirts 
etc. i have seen some that the dog tore off tying to free their foot 
from whatever they got caught up in and then you have a royal mess. Also 
i saw a long haired dog that had been at the groomers and the groomer 
cut the dewclaw right off with the clippers! talk about a mess. That is 
why alot of breeders will remove the dewclaws at birth. especially 
important on long coated dogs
