Oh ok. I just read a lot and one of the things I have been told over and over is that breeders should breed to the standard which is set by AKC and the chi breeder's club. I know that a lot of people don't breed to improve the breed but breed out of love for the dog. Thanks for answering

Not Breeding standard, but breed standard....in other words the standard for the breed. You can not show a dog over 6 pounds. However, when I said the standard for breeding, what I meant is the average that breeders use to breed/reproduce. 6 to 8 pounds is a pretty "standard", ei common/normal/average , size of females in a breeding program.
