I don't think that you are supposed to rub his nose in it.it sends the
signal that going potty (in general) is wrong.

You need to take him out, or put him on his puppy pad, every hour or so. If
he does go, reward him with a small treat. If you take him outside, use the
leash and lead him to where you want him to go. They sell stuff in the pet
store that smells like pee to attract him to where to go. I had a hard time
with Desi.he would stay outside for 20 minutes before he would go off the
patio and potty in the yard. It took a lot of patience.but very important
to praise each time he does it right and reward him with a tiny treat.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Potty Training-

Hello-
When we got Scooter,we were told he was abused by other owners
before our friend got him. He is about 1-yr old. Well, our friend was having
a hard time potty training him,so are we. We have rubbed his nose in it,and
tried everything....does anyone have ideas on how to break him of this?
Hugs..Stacey
