The records actually belong to you. Please check first to see if it is the same as for human doctors. If you ask for copies of the records, they may charge you; professional courtesy usually provides that your old vet will send the new vet the records for no charge.

I have decided to change my vet that I have been using for last 9 years. They have recently re model the office and it seems clients are paying for it.. The prices have gone through the roof! My situation is I want to take Smidge to another vet, so will my old vet give me all my records of the dogs? Beth
