Oh Yes Sue I agree totally! I had Dani done right away when I got her spayed. 
When I adopted Ori I had his changed to my info right away. When I took 
Caramella in for a check up with the vet, they said it was best to wait a few 
weeks for her kennel cough to clear up and for her to gain some weight before 
we did the microchip.

Both of our Chi's are.  It is well worth it in case they ever get lost.  The 
pain isn't any more then when they get a shot. We had a man come into the 
shelter today who just lost a Sheltie that had never been microchipped.  His 
chances of finding her are way less for that reason.
