Welcome to the group. You should never let a puppy eat as much as they want.
Usually the puppy food will tell you how much on the side of the bag. I have 7
chihuahuas lol. My smallest, Snookie, is 8 months old and she is 1.8 lbs. She
is all messed up. She was the runt of the litter. She has a hole in her heart,
hydrocephalus, her bottom jaw isn't developed and her teeth are not all in. She
would eat all day if I let her. She sucks food up and hardly chews it. I feed
her 1/4 cup in the morning and another 1/4 in the afternoon. The rest get 1/2
cup every day. It also depends on what kind of food you give them. Cheap food
will make them more hungry because they aren't given enough protein. I feed
mine Blue Buffalo. You have to be careful not to let them gain too much weight
because of their tiny joints. You will get the hang of it. I did tons of
research when I got my first chi. I'm warning you now, chihuahuas are addicting
lol
