When Dolly was less than 6 months old, I was taking her for a walk. We came
up and met Judy & Mandy – they were walking the opposite way of us. Dolly had
just learned to growl a little within the previous 2 weeks. I remember that
Dolly – was in the street on her leash – put her front legs and head lower to
the ground and her little butt up in the air and she gave out that little growl
to Mandy. Mandy is normally about 17 or 18 pounds, and Dolly was probably
still in the 3 pound range. Judy and I still laugh at that.

I feed the puppy amount until they are a year old. Chihuahuas usually take over
as the alpha even with big dogs. I have a whippet mix that is 30 pounds. Trixie
is 4 pounds and snatches bones right out of his mouth. She also won't walk
around him. She will bark until he gets up and moves. She is such a brat lol

Do you feed them the amount for a grown up dog? So would I feed Gimli 1/2 cup?
I bought Blue Buffalo too. His name is pronounced Gim-Lee (hard G and short i)
after Gimli the dwarf from Lord of the Rings. One of the first days we had him,
the Rottweiler (who is a big puppy too) was nosing him and Gimli turned around,
snarled and growled in a very fierce way (imagine a hamster growling). The
Rottweiler just stopped and backed up very suddenly. We thought that was
hilarious. Gimli has done that several times since, he is tough!!
