You should be feeding Gimli puppy food. The bag should show either the
amount for his current weight or the amount for his projected weight.

Puppy food has more calories and a lot more nutrients for the puppy to grow
up healthy. My Desi had to be put on adult food at 4 months because he was
obese, and interestingly his bones - his rib cage and his pelvic bones -
grew some when he was almost 2 years old. Unless there is some reason why
he cannot eat puppy food, then adult food could be used, but consult your
vet on that. Perhaps he would give Gimli some sort of vitamins to take
while still a puppy.

Do you feed them the amount for a grown up dog? So would I feed Gimli 1/2
cup? I bought Blue Buffalo too. His name is pronounced Gim-Lee (hard G and
short i) after Gimli the dwarf from Lord of the Rings. One of the first days
we had him, the Rottweiler (who is a big puppy too) was nosing him and Gimli
turned around, snarled and growled in a very fierce way (imagine a hamster
growling). The Rottweiler just stopped and backed up very suddenly. We
thought that was hilarious. Gimli has done that several times since, he is
tough!!
