In behind the vacant socket on your motherboard is probably a vacant set
of pads for a 75232 or similar com port chip. I don't recall any comment
on that so far; raising it actually brings this query on topic ;-)
Check for a chip. Check what com 1 has, and see if com 2 has it also.
