Can I suggest Jaap considers asking http://www.gmane.org/ to take chipdir as a feed? It acts as an archive, mail to news gateway and maybe most importantly gives the list a web interface making the list more accessible without causing any side effects (from what I've seen of other mailing lists which have done this).
Personally I detest forums. I have no objection to the kind of linked functionality presented above. I find chipdir is a unique source of a certain kind information and help and is good at what it claims to do. Recently, I've moved into areas of new development rather than old technology and repair which is why I'm quieter than perhaps I was (although I was never a really active member). My knowledge base is growing all the time (mostly to do with embedded cpus, handheld computers and linux at the moment). If I can put some of that back into chipdir I will.
