I am not an expert, but I am experienced. I have used this nest for 5 years
and though I have had some who are a little later walking, they all come my
little Chloe. She has often had one in most of her litters The explanation
- there was not enough room inside for them to get as much exercise as they
would have had with a larger bitch. They were late walking.....but not
swimmers. I feel it is more sanitary without having them lie directly on a
small surface that is harder to clean for the mom. With the plain nest the
mother cleans the surface. With the cloth, she cannot do as thorough a job.
Projecting ... I imagine would give up on being obsessive with keeping the
puppies as clean as she would if she felt she had done a thorough job.
