Hi Alice,

We had a case like this out in Orange County, CA several years ago. It was
front page news in the Orange County Register. Although it did not involve
a Cavalier, the people who lost the dog were devastated. The Shelter of
Orange, which was the shelter involved, took the same stance as your Dallas
SPCA did I don't know how the people who "adopted" the dog can live with
themselves!

I'm just wondering if the Cavalier in your case was micro chipped?? I would
hate to think that she was and no one bothered to scan her! If she was
microchipped I would think this would make the situation a bit "stickier"
for the folks at the Dallas SPCA.

Another suggestion is to try to get the media involved, public embarrassment
(even if the adoptive family's name is withheld, which I'm certain it would
be) can be a very effective tool.

Perhaps a letter writing campaign would be of some help? I'm just betting
if you let the members of this list know to whom and where you want letters
sent there will be a deluge like they have never seen before --- there are
some pretty incredible people on this list and I'm willing to bet many of
them are willing to help!! Let us know what you need, Alice. Meanwhile I
will put both families involved in my prayers, perhaps the adoptive family
will "see the light".

Best wishes to you in this endeavor!

Susan
