I have always sent chip home with puppies or requested in an intent to
transfer: everyone was required to have chipping done. Sadly they have not
complied and some on this list who have my pups. Therefore though I have
not wanted to do it at such a young age I feel I must before the pups leave
my home. The most responsible people have let me down so ultimately it is
my responsibility and I will do so in the future with all puppies leaving my
home. I prefer them being chipped when spayed or neutered but in the scheme
of things this has not worked out to my satisfaction. IE I am to receive
number when done and verification from vet so that AKC/USA clubs are
notified. I would suggest breeders purchasing breeder kits and having vet
insert if they feel at all uncomfortable doing it themselves. I purchase
them for $11.50 ea and have my vet do the deed before they leave for their
new homes. This way the pup is also registered in my name so no matter what
happens I shall be contacted if the owners are unavailable. Orma
