Twenty-four specialty shows each year with entries of 100-300 at each so a
lot more opportunity to show in real competition. Because there are
consistently 100-300 dogs at each show, you have opportunity to learn more
about breed type and find future stud dogs (and future show dogs and
bitches)--not only seeing many of them in one place, but also seeing many of
their children in one place--and if you choose--seeing those children often
and watching them grow up in the ring. What a learning experience! Mostly
English or other breeder judges who, in most cases, are considerably more
knowledgeable than the average AKC judge.

So you can experience the above and thereby be a better breeder.
Yes, CKCSC shows are fun--but I'm certain no more fun that the few AKC
specialties. CKCSC shows are just a lot more often and the classes are MUCH
more competitive seeing as the champions are in the classes.
The AKC specialties will eventually reach this status as well (save the
competitive classes with champions), but I think it will be a long time
before there are 24 AKC Cavalier specialties with 100-300 entries at each.
On a slow year I attend 10 of these specialties--a good year as many as 16
or more.
As I said before, at this point in time, I don't know how a new breeder
could do the Cavalier justice without being a member of and showing in CKCSC
shows--unless they attend many English shows each year.
