Carol, it doesn't have anything to do with feelings for me either, but for
lots of members of CKCSC it is about almost nothing but feelings. You can
only understand the level of misunderstanding and fearfulness that exists
within the club if you are in it. Most of the "feelings" are based on pretty
shaky premises, but they are there nevertheless. Some of the things that come
up on other lists when we discuss this same topics are these: 1. There is a
belief that AKC owners don't health test. Of course this is silly, but it has
come up time and time again. 2. They believe that AKC is responsible for puppy
mills. (can't get much sillier than this, but there you have it) 3. There
is a belief that the breed will go to hell in a handbasket if the CKCSC USA
isn't there to safe guard the dogs. If this were all about logic and
reason, none of it would have happened to begin with. No, it is about
feelings and fearfulness and misinformation.....and it is fueled by a small
group of people who influence a large group of people, the pet owners in
CKCSC. I wish it were only about breeding programs and freedom to pursue
the best plan for your program. I wish it were all about common sense and
reality, but for an awful lot of people, it isn't. It is about feelings.
