That is why not.
Being logical and not emotional, if the KC is not going to enforce its own
rules, why have them at all????? The KC's position on this is not at all
logical. If they allow people to judge non sanctioned shows without
penalty, then they should not penalize people for breaking any of their
other rules and regulations - so all you people in UK, go for it! As you
are all well aware, there are so many rules and regulations about judging
in UK which the KC rigidly enforces, sometimes quite silly rules which
prevent good and knowledgeable people from judging and woe betide you if you
step out of line and break any of them. But they seem to have no problem
with people breaking the rules provided that they do it somewhere else!!!!!
Call me simple if you like, but we have just had a long and involved
discussion on this list about ethics and the validity of belonging to both
organisations (AKC and CKCSCUSA) so in the light of that discussion, is
there not some ethical dilemma for UK judges who continue to judge at
"overseas events held outside the jurisdiction of kennel clubs with which
the KC has a reciprocal agreement" knowing that this is against KC rules but
doing it anyway? I am not trying to stir.....I am just wondering what
people's thoughts are on this matter.
I know someone is going to say that I judged "old club" shows myself - I
did this when the CKCSCUSA was the only venue for Cavaliers in the USA and I
took a risk in doing so. But now there is a properly recognised and
legitimate organisation (the AKC) whose shows are recognised by my own
controlling body so my ethical stance surely must be to judge in that venue,
as I am subject to the rules and regulations of the Australian National
Kennel Council.
