Hi, It would appear that some members or our list have been infected with the badtrans virus. The listserve does strip attachments, so I don't think that you would get the virus from the list, but what I have found is that this virus seems to pull addresses from mail that you have received and then sends it on to other members. I have my mail program set up to filter mail to go into various folders based on which list or family member it is from, so all of my email lists go into different folders. Any of the badtrans files, although they appear to have come from this list, ended up in my "in" file, which is a non designated folder. I am sure that this is probably as clear as mud, but what it tells me is that it is not coming from the list, but directly from the individual that has the virus and the virus is making it look as though it is coming from what ever list or email that it has attached itself to.
I would strongly urge members to use an antivirus program that allows you to do an automatic live update daily. I use Norton Antivirus and have it set up to do an update daily at 8am. It has caught all of the badtrans viruses that have come thru this week and deleted them. Many of them came from list members. I hope that this helps some, Kind regards, Kim ========================================================= "Magic Commands": to stop receiving mail for awhile, click here and send the email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20NOMAIL to start it up gain click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20MAIL E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] for assistance.
