Myra... I have used extended cool semen technique...but only with an excellent reproductive vet's collecting from the male, extending the sample, and AI the female. In AKC, you need a vet to perform and vertify the sampling and AI process. The dog needs to be ID and DNA at the time of collection.
Extended cool semen can be an excellent option for the breeder...it is worth the cost to me to reduce the stress to the female...but I feel it is extremely technique sensitive and needs the expertise of a highly trained vet. On another note...I have viewed my stud dogs' semen under the microscope in their office. It is interesting how they evaluated the mobility and perform the count. I think that procedure is workable at home.
