There is definitely two types... American and English. I have studied the ACKCSC; CKCSC,USA; and the CKCSC,UK yearbooks to know that there is a true difference between ACKCSC and CKCSC type. Also, I find it rather funny (but that's not the proper word I'm looking for really) that ALMOST all the pedigrees in the ACKSCS are the SAME! Same type and same pedigree! I'll also step out on a limb here and say that MOST have Tartan and Celtics in their first 3 generations. I've also surmised that the American type is smaller than the English type... especially in the amount of bone. Also, I have realized that the AKC judges are looking more at movement and size and the CKCSC,USA judges (being mostly English breeder judges) concentrate more on type and head as well as structure and movement... a nice total package :)
If only the AKC judges could attend the CKCSC,USA shows to see what good type is all about.
