I always tell people who inquire about buying a puppy from us that we have
no reason not to believe that 50% of them will be diagnosed with MVD just as
the statistics say they will. I also tell them that they are very hard to
housebreak and shed enough to build a whole new dog every week or so. I
honestly don't test my dogs so that I have something to tell the puppy
buyer. Most of them don't even ask. I view it as a challenge to produce
healthier puppies. My hope is that by the time I get too old to do this, I
will be able to tell people that my testing has made a difference. I figure
I have maybe 10 years left to breed my dogs if I am lucky. I hope that we
can at least eliminate HD and bad patellae from our lines by then...the eyes
should be relatively easy, and the MVD?? Who knows. Myra Savant
