Glenn, We have found that a product called "multi-purpose solution" for soft contact lenses works quite well. We have the Wal-Mart brand. The label brightly says "removes protein" and does have an expiration date. We soak the stained area 2-3 times/day and let dry. It takes a while to remove the stains but it does work.
