Cathy
I am sorry to disagree with you and I am sure that most if not all of the UK
judges on this list will agree with me.
It matters not one jot with me who I socialise with pre a show where I am
judging - the only thing I will not do is travel with an exhibitor. If you
are doing the show circuit you get to know an awful lot of people and their
dogs. Are you saying that those people should not show under you ? Because
by implication you are saying that those known people/dogs are going to get
preferential treatment.
I reckon we would have a nil entry if people known to us were not to enter!

Your comment "some people have the judges bought long before they arrive in
the US" I think is derogatory to overseas judges to say the least - have you
not thought perhaps with the number of exports that there have been in the
last few years that the judge might recognise type and admire that type of
dog over here in the UK ??

You judge yourself - I assume that once in the middle of the ring you
concentrate on the dogs before you and put up what you consider the best
dog on the day whoever is handling it. I certainly hope so and I surely hope
that every dog is totally unknown to you!!!
