What color are the puppy's ears? I have found the red on the body is
always darker than the ears. In many cases these puppies end up with loads
of puppy coat--which may or may not translate into a lot of coat at
maturity. I have had lots of litters with very pale red who ended up very
rich. There is a puppy on my website (www.roycroftcavaliers.com) on the
Young Hopefuls page--Jack--who was extremely pale at birth and still very
pale at 3 months--with lots of white mixed in his red. At 6 months you can
see he is very rich, but he already has a good deal of coat coming in.
