<<<<<<<<Well, in the recent ACKCSC newsletter one of the directors wrote an
article
on how to give a "pet trim" to a Cavalier. That being the case, how far
would complaining to the club go???

All the best,
Susan Cochran>>>>>

Excuse me Susan but this was clearly for a pet Cavalier who was not going to
be shown - surely you don't expect ALL Cavalier to remain "totally
untrimmed" for the whole of their lives? And this was written by Robert
Schroll who, together with John, has preached the mantra of "no trimming"
since before the Cavalier was AKC recognised - anyone who has been to one of
their judging seminars will attest to the fact that the desirability of
penalizing "trimmed" dogs in the showring has been constantly stressed.
I regularly trim off some of my Cavaliers - the desexed and/or retired ones
who don't need excessive coat in the hot summer weather, I tidy up the
bitches before they are due to whelp etc.

Lets keep our sense of perspective here - you don't want trimming in the
showring - fine - but I can't, for the life of me, see what is wrong with
making a dog with a lot of coat comfortable in hot weather!

If for one know the difference between a Cavalier being shown and a
Cavalier living as a household pet - and I presume others know the
difference too
