Maybe not on the flip side of this, but we met a woman in the pet store (
no dogs) who had purchased a Cavalier from our local pet shop and this was
her first Cavalier. The poor thing was huge. He was the size of a cocker
spaniel. He may have been healthy but my concern would have been, what was
behind the breeding. Sheepishly, she did admit that he was her first and
she didn't know enough at the time. "He was so cute in the store", she
said.

As long as they are out there and people buy them because they don't know
maybe where to find a local breeder or can not resit the pull of a child
screaming that they will die if they don't get this puppy, we will always
encounter this problem. We do not have any Cavalier puppies for sale but we
do have English cocker puppies and our neighbors just bought a 6 week old
Bichon from the same store. The daughter and wife had to have him! You
just can't win the how much is the puppy in the window battle sometimes.
