<Also, Gerri wrote "If they sit there and sit there and no one buys them" - Does anyone know what happens to puppies that aren't sold? (Are they euthanized? Sent to puppy mills to breed more?)
Alida, I don't know what happens to all of them, and each situation is probably different. I do know that they often just keep reducing the price until someone finally buys them. On one of the Japanese Chin boards that I visit, someone recently posted how excited she was that she found a Chin puppy at Pass Pets (Mall pet store) for $350. She said he was originally $1,500 because of his "championship lines" but that since no one knew what a Chin was, he did not sell. She felt very lucky to get such a quality puppy for $350. She also said that his "breeder" was in MO, which we know is where the majority of puppy mills are. I really think that the average person has no idea that *all* pet store puppies come from puppy mills. I wish there were a good way to get the word out to puppy buyers as to how to find a breeder.
