Ah, Michael,
You wax philosophic <G>! I was thinking many of the same thoughts
today as of course the PPA is going to make us very much in the same
boat as commericial breeders and those who breed the odd litter for pin
money.
I had a recent inquiry from someone who wanted to buy a male from me to
use on her two bitches. They were "CKC" registered (NOT Canadian Kennel
Club) but the woman very much understood the health concerns and
desparately wanted to learn. I spent hours emailing her back and forth
trying to explain why I couldn't sell her a male and why it might be a
good thing to start over with a properly registered dog. The thing
was......she loved breeding but didn't want to show from what I
gathered. She couldn't see the connection no matter how hard I tried.
When the correspondence came to an end (rather unsuccessfully, as I'm
sure she found my position unfortunate) I pondered about what she would
do. In the end, I thought she might breed healthy pets who might be a
bit ugly if she didn't have an eye for type. On the other hand, there
are some long time breeders whose dogs don't suit me
either.........<VBG> and who still strive for health.

I don't like commerical breeders, don't appreciate their theories of
breeding, but they are legal if following the AWA and USDA inspected.
The worst of them; those that aren't up to code are perhaps on what
those of you who are so inclined might spend your energies.
