Hi

I've been reading some of the specifics and interpretations regarding
the CKCSC Code of Ethics. Let us not forget that the fundamental
purpose of the Club is Registration of Cavaliers, and the fundamental
purpose of the Registration Office is "to protect the integrity of the
Stud Book". That's the bottom line for all of this. Nothing is
perfect, people make mistakes, people mislead, but for the most part
they are honest and for the most part, the Stud Book is accurate.
That's the reason for many of the picayune rules and procedures that may
seem to some to be unwarranted.

The Club does not recognize certain registries, because their records
are notoriously sketchy or even unavailable. I think that's part of
what's meant by "eligible". The AKC has the same issue. We are not
different. We want accurate records - for everyone's sake. DNA has
changed the world, and maybe in the future things will change again,
when dogs who were previously ineligible, might be because their
heritage is verifiable because of DNA. I don't know and I don't have a
crystal ball, but things do change, albeit slowly, and we need to all
walk together along this path.
