I don't know if this condition has ever been reported in the literature, so I don't know where you would read about it. A similar syndrome occurs in other breeds, though. A "rough coat" will occasionally show up in some field lines of Golden Retrievers, including dry eye, nail abnormalities, and corkscrew hair. Some of them hypothesize some sort of keratin defect, but that doesn't explain the autoimmune problems.
