Greetings everyone;

I think that the best we can do is to combat their website by using our own
websites to disseminate CORRECT information. I know that I have a LOT of
hits' on my website, and imagine that most of the rest of you do as well. I
already have a few spots on my Cavalier pages where I've tried to include
helpful information about choosing a Cavalier pet - so I've just added
something else, complete with a "Caution!" graphic! (that I'm happy to share
btw) What I've written is rather harsh, and I might tone it down a bit (or
not!), but is thus:
There is a new threat to the Cavalier world: there are some people trying to
convince the buying public that there is a "new" TOY Cavalier breed; going
so far as to have created a club/registry with a fancy registration paper, a
standard (never mind that their mention of show is very interesting, these
dogs cannot be shown in any legitimate kennel club shows; and their
breeding stock certainly does not appear to be of a show calibur), and a
code of ethics (Funny thing is that if they were ethical in the first place
this "new breed" would not exist.). Please do not believe that this is a
legitimate registry. This new standard looks legitimate at first glance,
yet offer colors that are not correct and not found in the Cavalier breed.
The photos I have seen are cute puppies, they are a far cry from correct or
even purebred Cavaliers! (In fact, one website touting these dogs has
been guilty of using someone elses photographs!! Apparently this
breeder wanted to give the appearance of having correct Cavaliers, never
mind the fraud issue.) Furthermore, dont be fooled by empty promises of
this new "breed" being free of heart disease; crossing the Cavalier with
another breed (the guesses are Papillons, which give the color varieties
offered, and would explain the look of the puppies) does not create a
hybrid vigor nor eradicate the MVD problem that the legitimate Cavalier
breeders are diligently working on controlling. Use extreme caution when
presented any alleged "new" breed; they usually are not a new breed, but
rather a new combination of established breeds, resulting in.... {drum roll,
please} glorified and expensive mongrels. There is no such thing as a "Toy
Cavalier", please do not be fooled by a well-done website and a slick
salespitch... Please use good judgement and caution when searching for your
Cavalier friend!
Anyone is welcome to copy, paraphrase, or otherwise use any of the above in
any way in their webpage! Or I'm open to suggestions for re-wording, lol!!
And did anyone notice that the site is a member of the Cavalier webring????
Any suggestions on handling that issue? I find that their inclusion is
offensive, and that the website asked to be included on a Cavalier webring
borders on fraudulent...
Sandra
(shaking head sadly at yet another scam against our wonderful breed)
