In dealing with allergies in our family, we have been told by many allergists
that it is not the fur, hair, whatever, that creates the allergic reaction.
It is the dander from the animal and allergens which may stick to the fur,
hair of the animal, and saliva. There is one known "hypo-allergenic" dog,
the name of which I cannot remember, which we stumbled upon when researching
it for my sister. We were able to find one breeder in the US. However, the
allergist told us that even if they profess to have a dog which produces no
dander, the saliva and other allergens which stick to the fur were still an
irritant to my sister. He was adamant that her reactions were too severe to
allow her to have any breed of dog.

The bottom line is that no matter what breed the dog is, if the child is
allergic to the point of having asthma attacks, the child shouldn't have a
dog.
